FAUX GHOSTS

Through the collection of domestic, anonymous trash and the everyday illusion, these works are interested in creating an atmosphere of ritual that attempts to demystify and further confuse reality.

The materials – a floor rug, a vinyl tile, an inanimate cat, a synthetic plant – suggest an inability to fully decay or be precious. The objects are transformed through new existences - both virtual and physical as a way to rehash/cherish and become closer to the ghosts behind low culture tropes.

The original materials that communicated a lack of or abandoned investment now have alternative functions and a projected reverence. Performing as a shrine  to ultimately reach a deadpan plateau of faux.

Grasping at the meaning of inauthenticity through inauthenticity.
